Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship


The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2020 competition.

  • Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

The 2020 MVS application deadline is November 5, 2019.

GE Reagan Foundation Scholarship

Who is eligible?

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholar candidates must:

  • demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
  • demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
  • be citizens of the United States of America;
  • be high school seniors attending high school in the United States, or any of the United States territories and commonwealths and graduating in winter 2018 or spring 2019.  Applicants living on a United States Armed Forces base and attending high school outside the United States are eligible.  Home-schooled students who are graduating in winter 2018 or spring 2019 are also eligible.
  • plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2019-2020 academic year.

The Association of Fire Districts "Ned Carter" Scholarship- Deadline February 22 , 2020

Amount: Four onetime $1500 scholarships

Eligibility : Must be related to a firefighter or be a fighter, or be related to any of the following: A Fire District Commissioner, Fire District Secretary, Fire District Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer, or Fire District Administrator/Manager or be an Explorer in a fire department that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York.

$12,000 (Major) Environmental Career Scholarship Application

The eligibility criteria for the $12,000 scholarship (paid out over four years) is as follows:

The recipient must be:

  • A qualifying high school senior
  • A New York State resident
  • Enrolled full-time in a B.S. or B.E. degree program with an environmental emphasis.

$6,000 (Major) Nicholas J. Bartilucci Environmental Scholarship

The eligibility criteria for the $5,000 scholarship (paid out in one lump sum) is as follows:

  • A qualifying high school senior
  • A New York State resident
  • Enrolled full-time in a B.S. or B.E. degree program with an emphasis on public service.

March Deadlines

Farm Bureau 2020 Agricultural Youth Scholarships

Eligibility:
Students must be a graduating senior who will continue their education to prepare for a career in some way connected to the diverse agricultural industry. Students must live or work on a form or be involved with agriculture via any avenue. Family Farm Bureau membership is required & may accompany application.

Amount: a $1500, $1200 and $1000 scholarship will be awarded.

ompleted Applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2020 and must be returned to the New York Farm Bureau in Albany.

Be the One (to make a difference scholarship)

Amount: (1) $500 scholarship for a Graduating High School Senior pursuing college or trade school in Fall of 2020
 

Eligibility: Graduating senior must maintain a 70+ average (copy of transcript required), must submit letter of acceptance at a postsecondary institution of learning (vocational or collegiate) Must submit a 500-word typed essay  or a 3 to 5 minute recording (audio or video). Must complete Photo release for self and all others appearing on or in recordings and must be present at the Coalition's annual Evening of Healing event at the Newman Center Plattsburgh to accept the scholarship (Monday, April 27th from 6-7:30pm)

Gerard J. Bucknmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship Program: 25 $1500 scholarships

For students who are a member or child of a member of the FASNY

Must be a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited two or four year institution of higher learning or an accredited technical post-secondary school.

Student must be a current Junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer fire department.

Interested candidates should submit a resume, two letters of recommendation, a certificate of acceptance from an institution of higher learning, a one page essay on "How Community Involvement in the Fire Service Has Affected My Life" and a complete description of extracurricular activities.

Dottie Harvey Memorial Scholarship- Students who residents of Clinton County who meet the following criteria: scholarship, citizenship, personality, leadership, perseverance, resourcefulness, general worthiness, financial need, extracurricular participation and awards.-Deadline March 15, 2020-Applications are available in the guidance office.

Dannemora Federal Credit Union

Amount $250 (renewable up to 4 years)

Eligibility; Any Student in the senior graduating class of a high school who is a current member or whose parent/guardian is a member of Dannemora Federal Credit Union

Deadline April 1, 2020

Champlain Valley Morgan Horse Association-(2) $600 scholarships. A graduating senior who is accepted to a two or four year accredited college. Preference will be given to students who will be pursuing an Equine or Agricultural field of study but not limited to those fields. Academic performance and financial need will be considered.

The Agricultural & Industrial Fair of Clinton County Inc. Scholarship

Eligibility: Must be a graduating senior who has been accepted into an accredited college program. Application is open to applicants regardless of your field of study. However, additional consideration may be given to those applicants pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture, fair management or the outdoor amusement business.

Amount: Ten $1000 scholarships

Deadline: Application must be submitted to the member fair or NYSAA  no later than April, 2, 2020.

Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program
Amount: Up to $2500 

Eligibility: Be a graduating Senior who is enrolled in a  2 year or less career or technical degree/certificate program in the Fall that will lead to employment. Demonstrate financial need; applicants must be Pell Grant eligible. Be under the age of 30 and a be a United States citizen.

SAANYS 2120 Retiree Student Scholarship

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to any graduating senior. Student must be sponsored by a current active SAANYS active or associate retiree member in good standing. Students must have demonstrated good school and community citizenship, and plan to go on to higher education, and otherwise satisfy criteria of the SAANYS Retiree Scholarship Committee.

Amount: The award will be between $500-$1000

Chazy Lions Club Scholarship:

Amount: $250

Eligibility:  Available to all Northern Adirondack students who are planning on continuing their education. Scholarship award will be based on High School grades, family needs and a essay. Application must include a completed application, essay and a transcript as well as two references one from a teacher and one from an acquaintance.

CVPH Foundation Scholarship-one $1000 scholarship available to any graduating senior at Northern Adirondack who will be entering a health care field of study such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pharmacy, radiology school, etc. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or athttps://www.cvph.org/Foundation/Programs-and-funds-scholarships  and due no later than April 22, 2020.

Clinton County Board of Realtors Scholarship

Amount: one $1000 scholarship

Eligibility: Any graduating senior in Clinton County who plans to further their education at a post-secondary for the 2020-21 academic year.

 Dannemora Fire Department Scholarship


Amount: (2) $250 awards

Eligibility: Applicants must live in the Dannemora Fire Protection Areas. Must be continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year college. Grades of 75 or better average for each of the the four years of high school. Attendance of less than 10 absences each year for the the four years of high school. Applicants do not have to be a relative of a Firefighter. Application must be complete and legible and include a transcript.

May Deadlines

Dr. Karl and Ruth Kramer Northeastern Zone New York State Retired Teachers Association Scholarship- a $500 scholarship is available one in Clinton County and one in Essex County. Student must be accepted to a post secondary institution and be pursuing a career in the field of education. Students with demonstrated financial need and high school average of B or higher will be given preference.  Applications are available in the guidance office and are due no later than May 1, 2020.


Agri-Mark Inc. Scholarship Program


Amount: Ten $1000 Scholarships

Eligibility: Student must be a family member of an Agri-Mark member farm, with special consideration to applicants majoring in a field of agriculture but other areas of study will be considered.

Deadline: Application must be postmarked or submitted online before May 1, 2020.

AES Northeast Scholarship
Award: Up to Four $500 scholarships

Eligibility: Students must be attending a high school in Clinton, Franklin, or Essex Counties. Applicant must be a graduating Senior in the year 2020. Applicants must be attending a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university in 2020-21. Applicants must be majoring in Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Construction Management or related field.

Jane Boswell Memorial Scholarship- Two $500 scholarship awarded to any graduating senior who intends to major in a program leading to teaching certification. Applications are due to the guidance office no later than May 1, 2020, applications received after May 8,2020 will not be reviewed. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. 


Clinton County Canine Club-Fay S. Kolz Memorial Scholarship Fund-

Bruce L. Crary Foundation Scholarship-  Updated Deadline May 14,2020 Applicants must reside in Clinton, Franklin, Hamilton or Warren County. Applicants must be income- qualified and in need of financial assistance, annual adjusted gross income can not exceed $80,000. Children of school administrators are not eligible. The Sarah Lawrence Memorial Scholarship-

The Sarah Lawrence Memorial Scholarship was created in 2016 to honor the memory of Sarah and her commitment to improving the lives of children and her adopted community of Ellenburg, NY. Sarah was active on the Northern Adirondack Central School Board, in the NACS PTO, and was a tireless advocate for children.

In memory of Sarah, a scholarship of $250 will be awarded annually to a Northern Adirondack Central School graduating senior who meets the following criteria:

 Involved in community service, either independently or as part of a school organization.Graduating GPA of 3.0 or higher. Accepted to a college or university with intention to major in a human services field, including but not limited to, social work, education, or health care.

Money will be awarded in a single payment following verified completion of the first semester of college/university with a 3.0 average or greater and proof of enrollment for the second semester.

Application are available in the High School Guidance Office and are due no later than  May 15, 2020.



Court Little Rose #1300 Scholarship:
 Any graduating senior who is a child or a grandchild of a Court Little Rose #1300 member who is in good standing. The student should be planning on attending a recognized 1, 2, 3, 4 program. Student have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA following the first semester of college

The Sarah S. Vert Student Fund Committee-Deadline  Must be received by May 15, 2020

A fund to help any Clinton County student who is headed to college who is both worthy and needy. Scholarship   Applications are available in the guidance 12 google classroom scholarship folder and in the guidance office

General Harry E. Knight Scholarship Fund-Deadline  Must be received by May 15, 2020-A fund to help any Clinton County student who is headed to Cornell University who is both worthy and needy.  Applications are available in the guidance 12 google classroom scholarship folder and in the guidance office


The Area Protestant Christian Churches Scholarship
:
Any graduating senior who is active in his/her church and youth activities. Student must be of high moral character in school, church and community and be an abstainer from the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Student must be worthy and needy.

Applications are available in the guidance office or in the Google Docs Scholarship Folder and are due no later than May 31, 2020.

The Viola Baxter Scholarship:
Any graduating senior who is active in his/her church and youth activities. Student may be considering a career in the field of education. Student must be worthy and needy.

June Deadlines

Business Club Scholarship: Any graduating senior who is an active member of the Business Club at Northern Adirondack Central School. 

Applications are available in the Guidance office and or in the Google Docs Scholarship folder and due no later than June 3, 2020.

NHLA Northern Home and Lifestyle Association
Eligibility:
Open to any dependent student who has a parent who is a member of NHLA or their parent's employer is a member. The student must plan on continuing their education at a college or vocational school.
 
To Apply: Write a 200 word letter of interest on why you would like to be selected for the scholarship and your future career plans. Complete the application. Supply a transcript and a list of extra-curricular activities, non-school activities, awards and honors you have received.
