Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship 

 
The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a one-time $2,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD who will be enrolled in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall.

The ideal Allegra Ford Thomas Scholar is a student who:
  • Articulates his or her challenges and recognizes the need for self-advocacy
  • Is committed to post-high school academic study/career training and has begun to set realistic career goals
  • Has demonstrated perseverance and is committed to achieving personal goals
  • Participates in school and community activities
  • Demonstrates financial need

To be eligible for the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior who will be attending a two-year community college, a vocational/technical training program, or specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall.
  • Submit current financial information
  • Provide most current documentation of an identified learning disability and/or ADHD (e.g., psycho-educational report, neuropsychological evaluation, IEP or 504 plan) and has utilized services, supports and/or accommodations.
    • Please note: LD and ADHD can co-occur with other issues such as speech/language, hearing and vision, and autism spectrum disorders; to be eligible candidates must provide documentation of a specific LD and/or ADHD. 
  • Be a United States citizen

Anne Ford Scholarship 


The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD who will be enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in the fall.

The ideal Anne Ford Scholar is a student who:
  • Articulates his or her challenges and clearly demonstrates the importance of self-advocacy
  • Is committed to completing a four-year college degree and has begun to set realistic career goals
  • Participates in school and community activities
  • Has demonstrated academic achievements consistent with college and career goals
  • Plans to contribute to society in ways that increase opportunities for individuals with learning and attention issues
  • Excels as a role model and spokesperson for others who struggle with learning and attention issues
  • Demonstrates financial need
To be eligible for the Anne Ford Scholarship, an applicant must:
  • Be a graduating high school senior who will be attending a four-year bachelor’s degree program in the fall
  • Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale (or equivalent)
  • Submit current financial information

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2018 competition.

  • Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

The 2018 MVS application deadline is November 27, 2017.

December Scholarships 
​ACT Student Champions-

ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. 

Please encourage students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria to apply: 

  • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
  • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.

Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. Applications are due by December 31, 2017 and champions will be notified by April 2, 2018. If applicants are under the age of 18, they must complete this form in addition to the application.

American Legion Auxiliary Spirt of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members 2017- 5, $5000 scholarships awarded to candidates who have ben a junior member of The American Legion Auxiliary for the past three consecutive years. ARC Foundation Scholarship-

Application available in the guidance office-Students who plan on majoring in nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Human Services, or Social Work.

Joyce Ashe Scholarship-Deadline March 3, 2018- Application is available in the guidance office-any adult or high school student going into a higher education or certificate program which may include but not limited to special education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy.


Gerard J. Bucknmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship Program: 25 $1500 scholarships


For students who are a member or child of a member of the FASNY

Must be a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited two or four year institution of higher learning or an accredited technical post-secondary school.

Student must be a current Junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer fire department.

Interested candidates should submit a resume, two letters of recommendation, a certificate of acceptance from an institution of higher learning, a one page essay on "How Community Involvement in the Fire Service Has Affected My Life" and a complete description of extracurricular activities.

Phi Delta Kappa Prospective Educator Scholarship- 
Amount: (6) $1000 scholarships
Eligibility: Any graduating senior who is planning on pursuing a career in education.

Dottie Harvey Memorial Scholarship- Students who residents of Clinton County who meet the following criteria: scholarship, citizenship, personality, leadership, perseverance, resourcefulness, general worthiness, financial need, extracurricular participation and awards.-Deadline March 15, 2018-Applications are available in the guidance office.

The Amy Bindleglass Memorial Scholarship-Applications must be postmarked by March 30, 2018-Application information is avalible in the guidance office.

April Deadlines
CVPH Foundation Scholarship-one $1000 scholarship available to any graduating senior at Northern Adirondack who will be entering a health care field of study such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pharmacy, radiology school, etc. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or athttps://www.cvph.org/Foundation/Programs-and-funds-scholarships  and due no later than April 20, 2018.

Bruce L. Crary Foundation Scholarship-Deadline April 20, 2018-Applicants must reside in Clinton, Franklin, Hamilton or Warren County. Applicants must be income- qualified and in need of financial assistance, annual adjusted gross income can not exceed $80,000. Children of school administrators are not eligible. The Phil Bernard Honorary Scholarship Champlain Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines International
Amount: $250 scholarship

Eligibility: Student must not have received the scholarship previously and be a:
Female students of Clinton, Essex, or Franklin County, NY
Be in the process of completing your senior year of high school
Have participated in the Sweet Expectation workshop program, sponsored by the Champlain Valley Chorus on at least one opportunity
Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or a B average
Have plans to attend either a 2 or 4 year college

Applications must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2018 and are available in the guidance office

Clinton County Canine Club-Fay S. Kolz Memorial Scholarship Fund-Deadline May 1, 2018-For students majoring in animal science who will be attending a two or four year accredited institution applications are available at www.clintoncanine.org

Dr. Karl and Ruth Kramer Northeastern Zone New York State Retired Teachers Association Scholarship-(2) $500 scholarships are available one in Clinton County and one in Essex County. Student must be accepted to a post secondary institution and be pursuing a career in the field of education. Students with demonstrated financial need and high school average of B or higher will be given preference.  Applications are available in the guidance office and are due no later than May 4, 2018.

School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) Educational Scholarship

 

Amount:  $150

Graduating seniors whose parent or guardian is a member of SAANYS.

Scholarships will be awarded to the children of current members of SAANYS. Each scholarship award will be at least $150. Details regarding the scholarship are on the form.

Salute To Labor Scholarship 
Amount: $500
Eligibility: Awarded to a student who is a union member or a child of a union member who is pursuing a post secondary education and will be enrolling as a freshman this fall.
Application: Interested students must be a resident of Clinton, Essex, or Franklin County. Be accepted at a trade school or college. Be a Union member or child of a union member. Be earning a high school diploma or GED to be awarded by June 30, 2018. Be a registered voter by application by due date. Provide 3 letters of reference: one from a teacher, one from a successful community member, one of the applicants choice. Must also submit a 250 word essay on one of the following topics: The benefits union membership has had on you and your family or Why it is important to take part in the election process.

The Sarah Lawrence Memorial Scholarship-

The Sarah Lawrence Memorial Scholarship was created in 2016 to honor the memory of Sarah and her commitment to improving the lives of children and her adopted community of Ellenburg, NY. Sarah was active on the Northern Adirondack Central School Board, in the NACS PTO, and was a tireless advocate for children.

In memory of Sarah, a scholarship of $250 will be awarded annually to a Northern Adirondack Central School graduating senior who meets the following criteria:

 Involved in community service, either independently or as part of a school organization.Graduating GPA of 3.0 or higher. Accepted to a college or university with intention to major in a human services field, including but not limited to, social work, education, or health care.

Money will be awarded in a single payment following verified completion of the first semester of college/university with a 3.0 average or greater and proof of enrollment for the second semester.

Application are available in the High School Guidance Office and are due no later than  May 31, 2018.


Nicole Baker Memorial Scholarship: A $500 scholarship available to any graduating senior who is planning on furthering their education at a State University College or University (4 year SUNY). Students must provide a short personal Biography which includes their personal goals and plans for the future.

Applications are due to the guidance office no later than May 31, 2018

 

The Area Protestant Christian Churches Scholarship:
Any graduating senior who is active in his/her church and youth activities. Student must be of high moral character in school, church and community and be an abstainer from the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Student must be worthy and needy.

Applications are available in the guidance office and are due no later than May 31, 2018.

The Viola Baxter Scholarship:
Any graduating senior who is active in his/her church and youth activities. Student may be considering a career in the field of education. Student must be worthy and needy.

Applications are available in the guidance office and are due no later than May 31, 2018.

The Rouses Point-Champlain Kiwanis Scholarship
Amount: To be determined
Eligibility:  Any graduating senior at Northeastern Clinton Central school or Northern Adirondack School who has plans to attend a post-secondary college or university. Student must have an overall 90 cumulative average and demonstrate dependability. A letter from an adult who has directly been associated with the student's service work is required. Students must write a short essay on "What community service means to me" 
Applications are available in the guidance office and do no later than May 30, 2018.


June Deadlines

The Clinton County Board or Realtor's Scholarships-One $750 scholarship is available to any Clinton County graduating senior who is planning on continuing their education at any post secondary institution (i.e. College or Technical Vocational school. Applications for both scholarships are available in the Guidance Office. Completed applications must be received no later than June 4, 2018 and must be mailed to: Scholarship Committee, C/o Clinton County Board of Realtors, 25 Margaret Street Suite 2, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee Annual Scholarship-In Memory of Jacqueleine Creed Archer
A $500 Scholarship awarded to 2017 high school seniors who plan on attending a post-secondary institution. Students must complete an application form, submit a transcript and a 500 word essay on one of the required topics. Applications need to mailed no later than June 1, 2018 to :

Business Club Scholarship: Any graduating senior who is an active member of the Business Club at Northern Adirondack Central School. 

Applications are available in the Guidance office and due no later than June 1, 2018.

Our Lady  of the Snows #1548 Scholarship: Any graduating senior who is a child of a Our Lady of the Snows #1548 member or in none apply any and all graduating seniors. Students should be planning on attending a 1, 2, 3 or 4 year program at a recognized institution. Grades, rank in class, honors and activities will be used to make the decision. Students should submit one teacher recommendation with the application.

Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due to the Guidance office no later than June 6, 2018.



Court Little Rose #1300 Scholarship: Any graduating senior who is a child or a grandchild of a Court Little Rose #1300 member who is in good standing. The student should be planning on attending a recognized 1, 2, 3, 4 program. Student have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA following the first semester of college

Applications are available in the Guidance Office and must be returned to the Guidance Office no later than June 8, 2018.
